Love is mostly made of small things. Tiny, everyday gestures that make people feel seen.
Grand gestures are lovely, but most love is made of small things done often. Here are some tiny ways to make the people around you feel seen.
Make their tea exactly how they like it, without asking. Warm their towel on the radiator. Leave a note in their lunch, their coat pocket or on the bathroom mirror. Put their favourite song on when they walk in. Take over a job you know they hate, just this once.
Send a voice note instead of a text. Post something small through their door, even a postcard. Remember the date of their big interview or appointment and message that morning. Send a photo that reminded you of them, with no need to reply.
The smallest kindness, repeated, becomes a whole way of loving.
Yes, you count too. Go to bed early. Say no to one thing that drains you. Buy the nice soap. Speak to yourself like you would to a friend. Take the long way home past the sea.
Hold the door. Let someone go ahead of you in the queue. Leave a kind review for a small business you love. Smile at the person walking the same beach at sunrise.
Kindness spreads. One small gesture changes someone's day, and they pass it on, and so on. You will never see where it ends up, but it goes further than you think.
Go gently, and keep glowing.
Go gently — and keep glowing.
Know someone who’d love this? Pass it on.
